Where the Ionian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea meet, at the southernmost tip of Sicily, lies Marzamemi, a charming fishing village that represents the ideal destination for a seaside holiday combining culture and excellent food.
The town’s history is inextricably linked to the sea: the tonnara (traditional tuna trap) stands as a historical testament to the importance tuna fishing has always held for the local economy. Today, small artisan businesses processing tuna and swordfish remain the primary economic activities, now complemented by tourism.
Evocative and rather exclusive, Marzamemi has been chosen on several occasions as a filming location for films and TV series, and it will be the perfect setting for your dream holiday. Book now to avoid missing out!

The iconic attraction of Marzamemi is the Tonnara1, one of Sicily’s oldest and most important tuna traps. Today elegantly furnished and used for events and private receptions, the Tonnara remains a historical reminder of the town’s unbreakable bond with the sea.
Equally evocative is the Brancati Islet2, or Isola Piccola (Small Island), which rises opposite the harbour. An elegant villa with distinctive red walls stands on this rocky outcrop, which was visited several times by playwright Vitaliano Brancati, cousin of the owner. It’s an exceptional photographic subject and will make you dream of owning your own villa on a private island!
For a few hours of relaxation surrounded by nature, visit the Vendicari Nature Reserve3, just a few kilometres from Marzamemi. It’s a natural oasis where you can enjoy unspoiled nature just outside the town, take lovely walks along the coast or sunbathe on wild-looking beaches.
From Marzamemi it’s possible to visit some of south-eastern Sicily’s most fascinating locations on a day trip, including Noto, Modica, Ragusa and Syracuse.
Not far from the town entrance lies Spinazza Beach4, washed by crystal-clear waters, and is generally uncrowded.
With a hire car you can venture further afield and explore the enchanting coast of south-eastern Sicily in search of the most beautiful beaches.
A particularly evocative beach is Isola delle Correnti Beach5, situated at the exact point where the Ionian Sea and Mediterranean Sea meet.
Among the beaches not to miss within a radius of about 20 km from Marzamemi we recommend Calamosche Beach6, Santa Maria del Focallo7, Carratois8 and Capo Passero Island9 (opposite the town of Portopalo).
