Considered the jewel of the Egadi Islands, Favignana is an island that, thanks to its rich history and stunning natural environment, has become a highly sought-after summer destination, particularly in recent years.
Whilst the other islands in the Egadi archipelago still retain a predominantly wild landscape, Favignana is a destination offering excellent facilities, paradisiacal beaches surrounded by pristine nature and breathtaking scenery.
Known for its beautiful golden beaches, turquoise waters, small pebble coves and caves harbouring ancient wrecks, Favignana is an island with a still genuine atmosphere where you can spend days in the name of relaxation, tranquillity and excellent food.
Along its 33 km of coastline, the island hosts bays and coves of rocks and pebbles alternating with sandy beaches. The lush green of Mediterranean vegetation meets a turquoise sea, creating landscapes with truly unique colours.
Here, then, are ten of Favignana’s most beautiful beaches where you can relax and sunbathe in complete peace.

Considered the island’s most famous beach, Cala Rossa is a beach immersed in truly evocative natural scenery that captivates every visitor. Nestled between tufa cliffs, Cala Rossa is a shoreline of high rocks meeting transparent, crystalline waters.
The beach is less than 5 km from Favignana’s town centre and is easily accessible by car, motorbike, bike or sea. According to an ancient legend, the beach’s name comes from a bloody battle fought between Romans and Carthaginians which, due to the high number of casualties, turned the waters of the sea red.

A splendid beach of golden sand washed by crystal-clear waters, Cala Azzurra is a true slice of paradise. The sea waters are clear and the seabed remains shallow for several metres before sloping gently down. The sandy beach is easy to access and is surrounded by rocks.
For all these reasons, Cala Azzurra is suitable for families with children. As it gets very busy during the summer season, we recommend arriving at the cove during the early hours of the day.

If you’re staying in Favignana town centre, the town beach known as Spiaggia Praia is certainly the most convenient beach and the most easily accessible. Fine, golden sand is washed by crystalline waters that invite anyone to dive in. Praia is also a well-equipped beach with a lido offering all services, including sun lounger and umbrella hire. Given its location and facilities, Praia is certainly one of the island’s most popular beaches.
Located along the island’s south-eastern coast, Spiaggia Calamoni is situated near the small fishing village of Punta Longa. The shoreline here alternates between small sandy coves and rocky stretches, forming a beautiful landscape. The sea waters are clear and shallow seabeds make this beach an excellent destination for families with children.

Situated in the western part of Favignana, Cala Rotonda is a small pebble beach surrounded by high cliffs and is one of the places to admire the island’s most beautiful sunsets. From its waters you can see the famous Arch of Ulysses emerge, a wonderful stone arch formed over time thanks to erosion caused by the sea and winds. The beach is easily accessible, both by sea and by land.

Lido Burrone, situated on the side opposite the port, is one of the island’s most extensive beaches. Characterised by white, fine sand, this beach is equipped and able to offer all the typical services of a lido: umbrellas, sun loungers, bars, restaurants. Its long sandy shoreline is washed by a transparent sea, with a seabed that remains shallow even away from the coast.
Given its characteristics, location and services offered, Lido Burrone is a very popular beach in summer, especially among families. Perfect for those seeking convenience and facilities, this is not the right beach for those who love wilder and less crowded shorelines.
Located in the island’s most western area, Punta Sottile is another ideal place to watch the sunset moment when the sun slowly descends towards the sea, creating a sky with breathtaking colours. Ideal for those who love tranquillity, here you’ll find numerous small coves and inlets made of pebbles where you can swim in turquoise waters. A very romantic stretch of coast, Punta Sottile presents itself as the ideal place for those who love quiet, wild and uncrowded beaches.
Located in the north-western area of Favignana, Scalo Cavallo is the name of a location situated right above a cliff that drops steeply to the sea and is surrounded by a tufa quarry. Access to the sea is via a small cove surrounded by low, not very jagged rocks. The beach is free, with no services or dining facilities. Chosen by those who love diving off the rocks, Scalo Cavallo is ideal for those who love wilder beaches.
Cala del Pozzo is another of the island’s free and less developed beaches. Here you’ll find no services or beach clubs, just a peaceful sandy shore made up of white grains of sand mixed with red coral remains.
As this beach is particularly sheltered even when the sirocco wind blows, at Cala del Pozzo you can swim peacefully even on windier days. The sea water is azure and inhabited by numerous sea urchins, whilst the seabeds are shallow and transparent.
Set between Cala Rossa and Punta Marsala, Bue Marino beach is located in an area that once housed a quarry where tufa was extracted. Among tunnels and caves created by man, here you’ll find a small cove washed by crystalline sea and characterised by splendid seabeds rich in marine life, ideal for those who love snorkelling and diving.
The caves and trails here can be explored via hiking excursions or through scuba diving. This beach has neither beach clubs nor services and this stretch of sea can also be subject to strong currents.
